Brief Biography of Sheikh Kishk
On December 6, 1996, the Egyptian scholar and preacher Sheikh Abdul Hamid Kishk left us at the age of 63 years to return to the Mercy of God. Famous throughout the Islamic world, Sheikh Abdul Hamid was very appreciated for the warmth of his Friday sermons and denunciations of farms all forms of injustice and oppression in the Muslim world. Cassettes of his sermons and his lectures were widely distributed throughout the Arabic-speaking Muslim world. The abundance of his knowledge, his unique style in preaching, his eloquence and strength conveyed her voice made him a preacher of exception which educated generations. God chooses the best death: his soul appeased returned to Allah while he was worshiping a Friday prayer at Al-Isra 'and Al-Mi'râdj.
Sheikh Abdul Hamid was born into a family of very modest standard of living, in 1933 Shabrakhît, a small village near Alexandria, Egypt. His father had died in 1952. He followed During the Al-Azhar in one of its religious institutions. At the age of 8 years, the young Sheikh Kishk had already memorized the entire Quran. It was then that his eyes were affected by a disease that caused his blindness. However, the young blind Sheikh had a heart and light guided by the light of the Word of God: the loss of sight encouraged him to persevere in the pursuit of knowledge and education.
He graduated from the Faculty of the Fundamentals of Religion (Usul Ad-Din) al-Azhar and became from that day the Imam and preacher giving sermons throughout Egypt. In 1964 he became the preacher the mosque in Ain al-Hayat. He ascended the minbar of this mosque in Cairo to talk passionately of social conditions in Egypt and to denounce the suppression of the Islamic Movement. His sermons reflected both his spiritual approach to life in all its details and its fight against the distortions and inequities. His outspokenness and honesty disturbed those in power so he was imprisoned and tortured in 1966 for two years.
Once released in 1968, Sheikh Kishk does not bowed the knee to government pressure, on the contrary, he remained a man in critical and full of energy. Several imprisonment and release were added, and it was only ten years later than most of his sermons and speeches were recorded on audio cassettes and video. His sermons were so popular that the mosque had to be extended three times to accommodate the hearing, the fiery heart of Sheikh Kishk. Imprisoned in 1981 and 1982, Sheikh Kishk was quickly released, but this time he was banned from preaching ... This does nothing Sheikh Kishk reduced to silence. Until his death in 1996, the ink of his pen never dries: the enlightened scholar wrote over 115 books and pamphlets, including an interpretation of the Qur'an (tafsir). (One of his books dealing with angels, was translated in English by Dar Al-Taqwa, London)
left us physically, but his words live in the hearts of Muslims who have for him many respct, admiration and love. We pray to Allah that He forgive him for that He extends his mercy and for Him to bless his soul. Amin
